What is RoHS Environmental Test?

RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) is an environmental directive established by the European Union, aimed at limiting the content of hazardous substances used in electronic and electrical equipment to protect human health and the environment. The RoHS directive sets limits on the concentration of six hazardous substances, including lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE). These substances are commonly used in electronic and electrical equipment and have potential hazards to the environment and human health.

Tripath conducts RoHS environmental testing on all plastic products, testing and evaluating the presence of hazardous substances. These tests are typically conducted by specialized laboratories, which collect samples and use specific testing methods to measure the content of hazardous substances. If the concentration of hazardous substances in plastic products is below the limits specified by the RoHS directive, the product can be deemed compliant with RoHS environmental standards and can be sold and used in the European Union market.

RoHS environmental testing is crucial for plastic product manufacturers and suppliers, as it is one of the legal requirements for entering the European Union market. By conducting RoHS environmental testing, it ensures that plastic products do not pose potential hazards to the environment and human health, while also contributing to the improvement of product sustainability and environmental image.
